Senior Software Engineer

ACT Education Corp. is seeking a Sr Software Engineer responsible for the design, development, testing, and support of IT solutions and software quality activities. Design flexible, scalable solutions, utilizing skills in data structures, algorithms, and object oriented programming. Build, customize, deploy, and manage software in continuous integration environ., including automated build, test and deployment infrastructure. Monitor product scalability, reliability, consistency, and performance; own activities related to Scrum team execution, including anticipating and planning work across sprints. Participate in design/architectural discussions, grooming user stories, sprint demos, and daily scrums in BDD approach and recommend changes. Contribute to tool selection, organizational standards, best practices and process improvements. Mentor team members in tech areas. Telecommuting/remote employment allowed after 1 year of emp. at Iowa City headquarters. Minimum Requirements: Bach degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Information Systems or closely related field with 5 yrs progressive IT exp. including: coding in JAVA or Python, working in Agile development environ., and exp. with automation testing of UI features using Selenium, developing Python scripts for testing using IDEs, and defining automation test strategy, approach, and planning for Agile sprints; demonstrated ability to develop software solutions, use JSON and XML, mentor and coach team, and work as part of a Scrum team, following SAFe Agile practices; strong understanding of Python; demonstrated relational and no-SQL database skills (MongoDB, Raven); and strong knowledge of version control (Git).
