Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Travel
Entry level purchasing agent position for individual with basic procurement or contract skills. Provide support to the Purchasing Department by managing and monitoring purchase contracts ensuring compliance with contract terms. Issue competitive solicitations including Request for Quotes, Request for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications as needed. Resolve contract performance and payment issues, manage third party contract interface, and maintain related purchase orders, contracts and catalog items. Responsible for the routine procurement of goods and services including freight, cellular phones, food products and equipment as well as potential involvement with campus-wide initiatives or those involving other entities. Assist with negotiations of on-going contracts for the entire campus. Evaluate and recommend appropriate methods for procuring requested goods and services. Ensure compliance with Federal and State Laws, Regents and University policies and procedures and the University's Strategic plan, plus departmental and divisional mission statements.
A Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required; a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree is preferred.
Six months to one year experience in procurement processes is required. Strategic Sourcing experience is preferred.
Must be proficient in computer software applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Writing sample is required.
Good organizational and analytical/statistical skills are required.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, such as Excel and Word, are required. Excel work sample will be given pre-interview or at the time of interview.
1-3 years experience in procurement processes is desired.
Knowledge of strategic sourcing and automated purchasing system.
Experience with the purchase of freight, cellular phones, food products and equipment.
Experience with initiatives involving multiple users and/or multiple entities. Demonstrated ability to facilitate projects and initiatives.
Knowledge of University business policies and procedures.
Familiarity with PeopleSoft/Oracle purchasing and contract modules.
